It’s a sad day when it’s easier and cheaper to buy the Start Trek hardcover, than it is to buy the only issue I’m missing of the original series (No 7).
Best Land in the set, and looking good in my spirit deck.
What’s better than a Frank Cho picture? A picture by Frank Cho and Gerhard. Nice.
Batman: The Dark Prince Charming There was a fair gap between book one and book two, but it wasn’t until I had both that I took the shrink warp off either of them. European comics can often be style over … Continue reading
Forgot I was getting this. Seems like a strange paper choice for the painted art, but suspect it might not benefit from a glossy finish. I hope it’s good. EREKOSË? Update: I did enjoy this, and would have been fairly … Continue reading
Went to see Frank Quitely at the Borders Book Festival today and got him to sign my All-Star Superman book. Nice.
On to issue 13 of Matt Kindt’s X-O Manowar and the quality still hasn’t dropped on this series. Let’s see if this survives the DMG Entertainment purchase…
Had this for a long time and never realised how nice the art was (particularly in foil).
We’ll see how this one develops.
Joshua Middleton’s Action Comics #1000 80’s cover.
Another comic I don’t fancy reading, but a mighty fine cover by Julian Totino Tedesco.
I have no interest in the current Doom Patrol, and less in any other Young Animal output, but I do like this picture. Grant Morrison will be turning in his grave.
Always liked this picture by Richard Clifton-Dey.
Bit late in getting the news, but Bob Wakelin died 20/01/2018. His illustrations were a bright spot in the 80’s when most game art was utter bobbins (Oliver Frey being an exception). I have some signed prints of his art … Continue reading
A rather fine 1/1 Joker bust by childhood hero Rick Baker. I would argue that it should be modelled in latex.
Need to try and get this when #15 is published. But probably not.
Joshua Middleton once again.
Cover to the comic adaptation of the unfilmed Planet of the Apes script written by Rod Serling back in the day.
Another splendid Kev Walker foil.
Frank Miller is threatening to release Xerxes: The Fall of the House of Darius and the Rise of Alexander at some point this year (or at least start it). I’m not sure Frank has it in him to complete Xerxes, … Continue reading
Snagglepuss Chronicles #2 by Steve Pugh.
I put off reading the last few issues of Letter 44 for a while. Probably expecting it to fizzle out like so many other series. It didn’t really, and I enjoyed issue 35 as much as I did issue 1.
Never seen this image or film before. Suspect the poster may be the best bit about it.
Flippy neck. Sadly Jim Baikie died December 21st. Artist on Skizz and the underrated New Statesmen. John Smith was unfortunate not to get much US work back in the day. Should really pick up his more recent stuff, and have … Continue reading
Finally got issue 4 of Dead Orbit. Was like a low budget Alien horror movie, but in a good way. A “destined to become a cult classic” kind of film.
