That’s the exhaust section painted black (after some heavy masking), although it does look like a gloss finish, it was supposed to be flat black.
As it turns out, the Pan Am decals were better quality than the Moebius supplied decals, the kit ones were too thick and just wouldn’t slide into place. I had a choice: suffer air bubbles on the massive decals, or use my Mr Mark Setter; I chose the latter and if you don’t look too close, they’re okay.
I have applied a gloss coat to the model to allow me to do a light wash, a bit of dry-brushing and some pigment weathering.
Once I’ve done that, it will be a general flat coat applied and hopefully it will look okay.
